This unit defends against airborne threats which includes any enemies with flight capabilities such as celestial beings, vampires, demons, devils, dragons or any other airborne threat.

☆ When Raegar is not at war or called to Esscha Endor with his Stormguard unit; he can be found at his ranch with his family in the neighboring friendly territory of Westguard, his ranch situated well in sight of the Urik territory mountains to the south and the eternal wilderlands vast forestland to the north. The Silverload River flows west along the entire central plane of his ranch, his lands rich and fertile but also susceptible to floods which he built his stone home, stone barns and stone bunkhouse to withstand. He owns a swath of the wilderland forest bordering his property to the north as well, with several cabins grouped together to which his family and employees retreat with the livestock when the river plain floods. Raegar raises and breeds Stormcloud Horses, a breed of fine horses with impressive longevity, intelligence and stamina which originated in the wild. Herds of these horses can be found in Esscha Endor's grasslands and in other grassland kingdoms. Raegar occasionally rounds up wild stock to add to his own herd. Raegar's ranch also raises and breeds cattle similar to longhorn that are native to An Morendor that are a hardy, docile, quality meat producing stock. His other livestock includes chickens, ducks, geese, goats and domestic boar. There is also a host of wildlife on his ranch. Raegar and his people protect his land, its inhabitants and its wildlife. They are protectors of the land as much as its people. Raegar's ranch is very well managed, profitable and he and his family make a respectable living. He is also paid well by the Stormguard Legion he serves.

Raegar History

Raegar has been a rancher since he could sit a horse. His father was killed during a dragon raid on their stormcloud herd on Raegar's 16th birthday.  Raegar quickly discovered that the dragon was being controlled by his older brother Woldyn who had stolen a scroll which allowed him to control a dragon and he thought he'd just 'have a little 'fun' and commanded the falcor dragon he'd searched out to attack the horses and to bring one of them to him alive and fit. His brother Woldyn had always sought trouble and his father had feared he was psychotic. Even as the dragon was tearing his father apart, Raegar grabbed up his sword and charged at his brother to thrust the blade into his heart, but he did not die. Woldyn laughed at him saying it tickled. Raegar promptly yanked the sword out of him then swung it around to lop off his head. Released from the domination spell by his death the dragon offered its life to Raegar who refused to kill her. He instead offered the dragon a home on his ranch in exchange for her protection. The dragon happily agreed and she and Raegar became friends. She even taught Raegar to ride her and vowed to come to him whenever he called her by name, Viscariod.

On that tragedy he inherited his father's ranch but also joined the Legion of Dawn soonafter rebranded Stormguard when he turned 18. He rose in the ranks to become Captain of their Airborne Defensive Unit, training and deploying his men to fight airborne enemies, including dragons. An expert in tactical flight combat, defenses and weaponry, he and his teams are the enemies dragons and winged hostiles fear.

When off duty he is at his ranch in Westguard. When called to duty he reports to his commanders in Esscha Endor, pulling his team quickly together with him.

Raegar had Demonkin abilities that he had yet to unlock because he was unaware that his father Uldumar was a demon. His own capabilities were unknown to him. None of his family but his father knew of it. It was a secret he took to his grave. A grave that would not hold him where Acheron would. His father had been a good man. It baffled Raegar that his brother had turned out so bad. Woldyn had been a good brother to Raegar despite the blackness in his heart which made killing him terrible for Raegar.

"There are those who say killing is easier when it has to be done. I disagree."

Objectives

☆ Raegar has received news from his loyal friend and volunteer Calvary officer that a terrible necromantic plague that was dropped nine years ago by hybrid Abyss Dragons on the central grassland kingdom of Seumir, and which had spread to Esscha Endor, has recently resurfaced in an outbreak in Keystone which was ground zero for the original plague. This plague, called Black Doom Plague or Doom Zombie Plague, through insidious black spores infects the living with a necromantic disease which turns any living creature it infects and who survives the plague into a Doom Zombie.

Although the spores were once suspended and airborne much like an aerosol the brilliant mages and scientists of Seumir and Esscha Endor had worked diligently together to find a way to contain how the disease was spread, combating the disease by releasing massive clouds of gas over the affected areas with a counter agent that killed the bacterium in the spores that suspended its particles. Thereafter the spore could only be spread by bite or close contact with the breath or flesh of the creature. Spore left behind on surfaces by zombies which before remained active for days now quickly died and became inert without the bacteria that had made it light and given it buoyancy. With the plague contained within the zombies it created it was just a matter of exterminating the zombies that were its carriers.

Anyone infected by the Doom Plague who survived it was transformed through a horrific and grueling transformation into a Doom Zombie within roughly twelve to twenty hours. The only cure was a controlled liquid substance called Spirit Water that HAD to be administered BEFORE the plague progressed to blacken the eyes and completely blacken the skin.

In recent years a doom zombie had surfaced here and there, now and again and been dealt with, using a procedure that had become ingrained in the cultures and lives of the people in the affected regions. A system was already in place to deal with the Doom Plague. The citizens too had been educated in what to do when a Doom Zombie was encountered.

Now with a fresh outbreak new concerns arose. Was its resurgence a deliberate act by an enemy of Seumir, or any enemy to morendor in general? Who would unleash such a horror intentionally and why? OR had the plague simply and very disturbingly mutated and if so had it become as virulent as it had been in the origin outbreak?

Problem was, news had reached Esscha Endor years ago from one of their own knights who had been infected in Keystone during that battle when the plague was dropped, that a rare few who were infected and turned remained sapient and retained their identity as people and could control the necromantic disease. The knight reporting it was one of these very rare Apex Doom Zombies who were called Doom Lords, his name Mendes.

Doom Lords were extremely rare occurrences which evolved rapidly from certain shapeshifting beings with heavy exposure to the necromantic plague called officially the Black Doom Plague. Doom zombies are what remain of creatures who survive the plague. They are completely black in color, within and without from the doom spores that utterly infuse them. These spores spread to others infecting anyone who came in contact with these spores by breath at close range, bite, or touch. Though the plague was made inert by containing it within the zombies eight years prior to the new outbreak, the plague had mutated and could once again infect the area and air around the zombie though at close range. The spores themselves were also surviving longer.

Powerful purification techniques and many other methods had proved fruitless in attempts made to cure the condition. The only cure for the black doom was to drink half a bottle or more of Spirit Water, a difficult to come by foul tasting water from Acheron's River of Souls. It was only effective before the final hour when the victim died and rose as a doom zombie. Supplies of this water could be found in Seumir under control of king Byron Feoda Corca, who distributed it as needed.

The Doom King Morgir had developed techniques to control other doom zombies and contain the contagion in himself and others. Finding one other like himself, the Esscha Endor officer Mendes, he passed on this knowledge to Mendes making him Prince of Doom.

Very specific anomolies in their immortal genetic makeup made Morgir and Mendes unique. Both were shapeshifters, both euryalian, both part devil, one a powerful necromancer, the other a powerful wylde channeler, both highly intelligent.

Of the two Morgir was more powerful as a Doom Lord owed to the dusky abyss dragon aspect of him. While Mendes' (a GM player character) wolf aspect allowed him less control but more resistances through the forces of nature he commanded. As such he was not completely black like Morgir (an NPC character). Morgir's command over those inflicted with black doom was immaculate. Mendes, while he could always summon them could not always control them right away. They distrusted him, unlike Morgir.

With all this knowledge of the Doom Plague in his possession, Raegar knew what it was he was leading his men into. He contemplated the value of securing Morgir as an ally despite how incredibly scary he was and felt the first step in doing so was sitting down with Mendes, Prince of Doom and commander of the Blackstone Garrison, and seeing if he could arrange a meeting with Morgir. If Morgir could control and summon Doom Zombies, he could be an enormous asset. He decided he should speak to Aragmir and Llandri on the subject. Aragmir then volunteered to go fetch Morgir himself so set off to Seumir to meet with and secure the aid of Morgir who rode back to Esscha Endor with him.
